What Does Detrans Mean?

Detrans is a shorthand identifier (like trans for transgender) to describe a person who transitioned and now has detransitoned. There are other words, like desister, that are sometimes used as synonyms, though within the detrans community, desister tends to identify those who did not undergo medical transition: only social and/or legal. For me, it was all three, and thus by all definitions I can claim the word detransitioner. For about four years, I was a trans man. I was on testosterone for most of that time, and was soon to get a mastectomy (top surgery). However, I was lucky, and my dysphoria (previously well managed) started to literally disappear. I am not yet sure of why, but upon researching it seems this is more common than discussed. I consider it a boon, of course, because I no longer suffer in that way. I deliberated for a long time before deciding to go off testosterone to test if my dysphoria was truly gone: as of yet, it has not returned, and I have detransitioned socially as well. I am in the legal process. I don't really identify as anything anymore, simply opting to use whatever words describe my body and relationship with others such as female, lesbian, and detrans, rather than an identity I have constructed for myself.

The knowledge of detrans people is, to the average person, rather lacking despite the recent growths we have made to come together as a community and demand medical and community recognition. For this reason, I do not mind any questions you may have concerning my status as a detrans person, and would love to answer them in dms, or if they are less complicated, via curious cat. As long as you come with an open mind and no malicious intent, you are welcome to discuss this with me.

Snails?

I have never been good at keeping what I post on separate, topic relevant accounts, and my twitter is no exception. If you've followed me for a while or are just starting to, it's still pretty obvious that I'll go from discussing my day to posting a nsfw thread to talking about detransitioner rights to talking about BTS to talking about my time at the local kitten rescue. This will likely never change. If you want to talk to me about whta I post, especially if you like that kind of thing as well (especially snails), please dm me or send me a cc, it's more than likely that I'd love to talk to you!
